The printing industry has gone through numerous changes over the past fifty-years and Central Decal, a manufacturer of flexo/screen, domed, and digitally printed labels have seen it all. In-Mold Labeling has been a widely used process across Europe, however is in its beginning stages in North America. IML is when a label is inserted into a mold prior to the injection of plastic resin. The label is most commonly inserted using static or vacuum processes. There are numerous costs saving and value-added benefits associated with IML.

In-Mold labeling allows for a more flexible graphic in regards to formed or shaped surfaces. The label mechanically and chemically becomes part of the plastic product, therefore lowering scrap rate or faulty parts. This can be especially attractive to products displaying a warning label due to liabilities. IML also eliminates secondary operations, which combines two steps in one.

EG and Central Decal have produced over 5 million In-Mold labels and all labels have been either outdoor durable or automotive grade. Central Decal has been working with outdoor durable goods since 1957. Engineered GraFX is a small company with big company capabilities in terms of R&D, production, and service.
